Jamil Hasanli: Violation of human rights has passed all the facets
The visit of the head of the National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF) Jamil Hasanli to the USA completed. It was a scientific mission, but as part of a trip, Hasanli also met with representatives of the US political establishment. Hasanli was invited to Washington, DC as part of the project for the Study of the "cold war" in the Woodrow Wilson Center.
In an interview with Turan, he said that the talk is about the study of Soviet foreign policy on its southern (Turkey, Iran) and western borders (China) at the beginning of the "cold war" (late 40s.) As part of this work, Hasanli has already been in China and will soon visit Shanghai.
The scientist is preparing to publish in 2015 a collection of documents on Soviet foreign policy in respect of the province of Xinjiang (East Turkestan) in the 1944-47s. In addition, next year will be published his monograph "East Turkistan in the attraction of Soviet policy."
However, during his visit to the United States Hasanli held a series of meetings in the State Department, the Senate, the Helsinki Commission of Congress, as well as in Freedom House and Carnegie Foundation.
They discussed the situation in the region, as well as problems with democracy and human rights in Azerbaijan. Repression in Azerbaijan and the growing number of political prisoners has long been the center of attention of the world community. "Now the international community is not a concern and alarm over the suppression of democracy in Azerbaijan," he said.
The US public was especially shocked t with the news on the arrest of journalist Khadija Ismailova, well-known in America for principled and courageous investigations. The latest events and arrests of human rights defenders is perceived in America as the intersection of all facets of the red lines, said Hasanli.
The question if Washington is considering the possibility of applying any sanctions against the official Baku, Hasanli said that on December 12 the organization of political refugees in AZAD will be discuss in Washington. The speech of the former Assistant Secretary of State David Kramer and former Ambassador Richard Kozlarich is expected. A lot will depend on their performance in accordance with their authority and influence in the political and diplomatic circles, said Hasanli.-06B-
