No Explanation from Authorities for Withdrawal of Documentation from "Qanun" Publishing House

For almost three weeks, unidentified armed men seized and took documentation away from the "Qanun" Publishing House.  "There were 20 people, most of them were armed. I do not think that all the documents were seized by tax authorities, there were only two of them, and others were in civilian clothes," said in an interview with Turan Shahbaz Khuduoglu, director of "Qanun".

According to him, the documentation was seized illegally, with violence.

"The whole building was surrounded, and they broke into the building and withdrew not only documentation, but also computers. They took everything that came to hand. Until today, we have no information about the withdrawal of the documentation," said Khuduoglu.

The test is neither political nor legal; it was an attack on the publishing house. "We have repeatedly checked the tax authorities. We are ready to cooperate with the tax authorities within the legal framework," he said.  "Qanun" Publishing House prevented a book crisis in the country.

In total, we have published nearly 2,000 books; only last book fair we published 20,000 books.

Books are published only based on licenses. Therefore, the termination of the activity of the publishing house is to leave the country without books," said Shahbaz Khuduoglu.

When asked about the reasons for withdrawal of the documentation, Khuduoglu did not rule out that this was due to the printing of posters for Jamil Hasanli, presidential candidate of the National Council.

"Yes, we printed posters of Jamil Hasanli. All documentation is available. There was nothing illegal," said Khuduoglu.

Publishing house “Qanun" will appeal to court and continue the litigation to restore their rights, said its head. -03B04-
