A picket in the defense of human rights activist, Hilal Mammadov, editor of "Tolishi Sado", arrested in Azerbaijan, took place today in front of the Azerbaijan Embassy in Russia.
According to organizers of the action, picketers demanded the release of Mammadov and to stop the unfounded criminal case against him.
Representatives of the Azerbaijani Diaspora in Moscow and Russian human rights activists participated in the action. Hilal Mammadov, was arrested on 21 June and charged with drug possession, and spying for Iran. However, the real reason for his arrest is his defense of minority cultural rights. He could be imprisoned for 12 years.-02D-
