Activists Demand Punishing Those Guilty of Beating Gubad Ibadoglu’s Daughter
Baku / 19.02.20 / Turan: The Azerbaijan National Platform of the Civil Society Forum's Eastern Partnership Program of the EU condemned the physical pressure on the February 9 early parliamentary election commission member Zhala Bayramova.
The National Platform’s statement recalls that a fourth-year student at the Law Faculty of Baku State University Bayramova was a member with an advisory vote of the precinct election commission number 16 of the Lankaran-Astara constituency number 76 in the village of Shuruk. A physical attack was made on her, when the girl showed principle in fixing the violations occurring at the site.
From the video frames distributed on social networks, it becomes clear that the attack on Bayramova was organized by the secretary of the district election commission, Mubariz Amirov. Directly the same violence against the girl was committed by Azad Kerimov, who does not have the status of a member of the election commission or an observer on the site.
As a result of these aggressive actions, Bayramova suffered bodily harm and moral damage.
Despite the fact that Bayramova contacted the local police as a victim, still no necessary measures have been taken.
The national platform required a comprehensive, complete and objective investigation of the physical attack on Bayramova, giving this an appropriate legal assessment, bringing the perpetrators to a fair trial.
Zhala Bayramova is the daughter of the well-known politician and economist Gubad Ibadoglu. -06B-
