Against the background of an increase in cases of measles, TƏBIB declares a stable situation
Baku/21.12.23/Turan: Despite media reports about many cases of measles, the responsible structures do not disclose official statistics. Turan's attempts to find out the number of cases of measles from TƏBIB (Association for the Management of Territorial Medical Units) were futile. According to local media, at least five children have already died from measles. The last deaths were recorded in December in Lankaran and Shirvan.
Executive Director of TƏBIB Vugar Gurbanov told reporters on December 20: "The situation with measles in Azerbaijan is stable. The availability of medicines is good, there are all conditions for treatment in the hospital. Parents are advised to contact medical institutions," he said.
According to WHO, there has been an alarming increase in the number of measles cases in the European region. In January-October, from 40,000 to 130,000 cases of measles were recorded in 53 countries; this is by 30 times more than in 2022 –03B06-
