Ali Hasanov: Amiraslanov Matter of Intense Review
The case of the Human Rights activist who was arrested in Sabirabad, Ilham Amiraslanov, will be reviewed at a high level, said the head of the socio-political department of the Presidential Administration Ali Hasanov, stated at yesterday's meeting with civil society activists.
Hasanov received from Kura Civil Society Staff Coordinator Oktay Gyulaliyev, a letter sent by Amiraslanov, in which he reported reasons for his arrest and violation of his rights.
Originally, Gyulaliyev wished to read the letter to the audience, but Hasanov stated that this was not necessary and the appeal would be discussed in the presidential administration.
A member of the Kura Civil Society Staff, Amiraslanov within two years actively campaigned for the rights of victims of floods in 2010 and then arrested on June 8th, three days after participating in a meeting with the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Kamaladdin Heydarov.
The arrest was accompanied by violation of the national and international legislation. He was incriminated for possession of firearms, and was tormented.
International Human Rights organizations demanded his immediate release and an objective inquiry into the case.
The Kura Civil Society Staff was created by a number of Azerbaijani NGOs to protect the rights of victims of the floods in 2010. -0 -
