All Azerbaijani Armenians dream of visiting their homeland, Irina Berchiyan
Baku / 06.03.18 / Turan: A Russian citizen, a resident of Stavropol Irina Berchiyan arrived in Baku last Sunday, 30 years later. Her arrival was organized by the public organization "Peace Platform between Armenia and Azerbaijan", which considered the appeal of Berchiyan.
"Armenians living in Russia, and all former residents of Azerbaijan, are eager to return home for at least a few days to breathe their native air, to see their homes again, to visit the graves of their relatives. I really wanted to be back in my Baku, where my best years passed.
I studied at the school N1, left a lot of friends here. I cannot come to my senses, I am in a joyful state from the first steps in the best city in the world," Berchiyan told Turan.
Irina Yakovlevna and her parents left Baku in 1989. Having moved to Russia first, they then decided to settle in "their historical homeland" - in Armenia. But after living there for about three years, finally moved to Stavropol.
"We spoke Russian in our family. I did not know enough and now I do not know the Armenian language, and without this it is impossible to build a career in Armenia. Therefore, it was decided to move to Russia," Bercian explained. For a week of her stay in Baku, she intends to visit the cemetery and photograph the building of the Armenian church to convince relatives and friends that the church in Baku has not been destroyed.
Berchiyan noted a great difference between the reality and the way the press presents the Azerbaijanis, and their attitude towards Armenians. During her stay in Baku, she did not meet any hostile attitude, and even her companion in the plane - an Azerbaijani from the southern region, offered to accompany the guest after boarding the plane until she sees those who will meet her.
"The Peace Platform between Armenia and Azerbaijan" receives many requests from former residents of Azerbaijan of Armenian nationality. As far as possible, we try to satisfy their wishes," Coordinator of the organization Dilara Efendieva told Turan. -0--

At 16 meters long, the creature’s seemingly lifeless form and pungent odor left many convinced they were witnessing an ecological tragedy. By that night, however, the mysterious visitor had departed, loaded onto a cargo platform and whisked away to the airport.
