Baku / 10/15/18 / Turan: An activist of the Musavat party, Azad Hasanov, who has been living in political emigration in Lithuania for several years, was arrested on charges of drug trafficking on a large scale.

His lawyer Osman Kazimov told Turan that on October 12, the judge of the Khatai court Ibrahim Ibrahimli decided to arrest Hasanov for 4 months. He faces from 5 to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.

Recall that Hasanov arrived in Baku on October 10 to bid farewell to his dying father. The next day, in the afternoon, he was detained by unknown persons on the street and taken to the police.

The statement of the Musavat Party on this occasion expressed protest. The party calls on the authorities to put an end to their policy of "revenge" against critics of the government.

The party called on human rights organizations to take all possible steps to protect the rights of Azad Hasanov.

Recall that Hasanov has been living in Lithuania since 2014. He is known for sharply criticizing the Azerbaijani authorities in social networks for violating human rights and freedoms in the country.

He became another opposition political activist, arrested on an artificial charge with possession and distribution of drugs. -03B-
