Appeal filed against verdict of Pyunkhan Kerimli
Baku/12.08.22/Turan: Pyunkhan Kerimli, a member of the Party of People's Front of Azerbaijan, deported from Germany and sentenced to 6 years of imprisonment for drugs, filed an appeal.
The review will take place in September, the activist's father Vahid Kerimov told Turan. He believes that his son is being persecuted for political reasons. "My son didn't even testify. He was forced to sign some text under torture," he said, adding that the drugs were planted by police officers.
* Kerimli was arrested in January of this year, a month and a half after his readmission from Germany, where he was denied political asylum. Kerimli is convinced that he is being persecuted for participating in protests in Germany against human rights violations in Azerbaijan.
On July 22, the Baku Serious Crimes Court sentenced the activist to 6 years of imprisonment. -06B0-
