Arrested PFPA activist Alizamin Salaev has been on hunger strike for 13 days
Baku/20.02.23/Turan: On February 20, the Baku Court of Appeal, chaired by Javid Hussein, rejected the complaint of Zamin Salayev, chairman of the Salyan regional organization of the Popular Front Party, and left him in custody.
According to lawyer Nemat Karimli, Zamin Salayev has been on hunger strike for 13 days.
“In court, he stated that the accusation was completely false and he was slandered. He did not attack anyone, but on the contrary, they attacked him. However, the police detained him, but not the attacker. A few minutes later, the police detained Zamin," the lawyer said.
Addressing the judge, Zamin Salaev said: “I will starve until I die. Either I will be released from prison or I will die,” he said.
*On February 8, the Garadagh District Court of Baku sentenced Salayev to three months of arrest. A criminal case has been initiated against him under Article 221.3 of the Criminal Code (Hooliganism with the use of weapons) and he faces up to 5 years in prison.
The PFPA is sure that the provocation against Salayev was carried out in order to punish him for critical publications in social networks against the policy of the authorities. ---0---
