Protest action in front of the Court of Appeal that did not release Bakhtiyar Hajiyev
Baku/20.02.23/Turan: On Monday, a group of civil society activists held a protest in front of the Court of Appeal, which did not release Bakhtiyar Hajiyev from arrest.
They chanted: "Don't kill, free!", "Bakhtiyar has the right to be free!" The police pushed the protesters away from the court building and detained five people: Afiyaddin Mammadov, Samir Sultanov, Neymat Abbasov, Ali Melikov and Narmin Shahmarzade.
The rest of the participants told reporters that Bakhtiyar could die at any moment and should be released immediately. However, Judge Habil Mammadov did not take this into account.
Today, Bakhtiyar was brought to court by force, although he applied in writing not to be touched because of his poor health. On the way to court, his health deteriorated and vomited bile, protesters said. They said they would continue to protest in public places. ---02B---
