At the trial in the case of Avaz Zeynalli
At today's trial in the case of Avaz Zeynalli , the editor of "Khural" newspaper, testimonies of a witness, the owner of the "Hamsa" restaurant Murvat Hasanli, were heard to.
At the preliminary investigation Hasanli testified that the former head of JSC "Resorts", Akif Mammadov, gave Zeynalli 4,000 manats to stop critical materials about him. But today in the court Hasanli gave contradictory testimony.
According to the staff of "Khural", Hasanli first said he had not seen how Zeynalli transferred money . He said that Mammadov borrowed 1,000 manat from him, and said that he will give them to Zeynalli.
Responding the question of the prosecutor, Hasanli confirmed the testimonies given at preliminary trial. Mammadov said that he did not give money to Zeynalli, and has no complaints about him.
Zeynalli was arrested on charges of extortion on a complaint of a MP, Gular Ahmedova, and other applicants, but to date there are no complainants, and Akhmedovs performs as a witness, said the employee "Khural", Afgan Mukhtarly.
Previously the trial heard testimonies of bailiffs of Narimanov district, whose answers to protection were mainly "do not remember", "I do not know."
Protection declared unfounded nomination of criminal charges against Zeynalli on not enforcing judgments, as he began to pay the debt for legal claims.
Zeynalli said that while the property of the editorial office was confiscated on four claims, the name of the head of presidential administration, Ramiz Mehdiyev, was removed from the names of the plaintiffs.
The next hearing in the case is scheduled for Wednesday. —06B-
