At Trial of Khadija Ismailova (UPDATED)
In the trial of Khadija Ismailova she made a number of applications: she protested the composition of the court, which "shows the position of the prosecutor's office and rejects the documents and evidence of the defense."
To investigate the illegal actions of all the three judges we should apply to the Judicial Council, she said, but all these requests were rejected by the court.
Ismailova also petitioned to include in the case the contracts and payment orders she signed, but the prosecutor opposed, and the judge Ramella Allahverdiyeva supported him.
Next Khadija called on to bring to the court as witnesses employees of Radio Azadlig Ramal Huseynov and Elchin Zahiroglu, but this claim was rejected.
Then she asked the court to invite Araz Mahmudchayly, the psychiatrist who treated Tural Mustafayev, who wrote a complaint, on which she was arrested, and again the judge refused to do so.
Another rejected petition regarded the request to attract business materials of the tax audits of Radio Azadlig in 2008.
The lawyer Javad Javadov requested to apply to the Constitutional Court on the legality of the charges that Khadija Ismailova, working on Radio Azadlig, did not have accreditation from the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan and it was the basis for the investigation to accuse her of illegal business. The judge refused to satisfy this requirement and the prosecutor Ramazan Hadiyev accused Ismailova of delaying the trial. Next it was adjourned. -16D-

Amid the bustling scenes of this year’s COP29 climate conference, a protest against whaling and deep-sea mining, organized by a group calling itself the FINS Initiative, drew significant attention from delegates and observers. However, questions have arisen about the legitimacy of the group, as an internet search yields little evidence of its existence beyond scattered mentions.

In the last two days, a "news" story appeared on TikTok about a whale spotted on Baku's seaside boulevard. The most "observant" users posted videos, commenting on the size of the animal. Later, other "witnesses" claimed it wasn't a whale, but a shark. Even later, a version emerged suggesting it was a submarine.
