«AWITA 2017»: the most talented and prominent female ICT professionals in Azerbaijan awarded

  The Women in IT Awards, technology’s largest diversity event in Azerbaijan organized by Azerbaijani Women in ICT (AWIC) “FEMMES DIGITALES” Club, gathered 300 of Azerbaijan’s most prominent IT leaders on January 26, 2017 at Baku’s Mugham Center.

The Jury staff was represented by successful men only (no female judges to avoid any sort of bias), representing the leading private ICT structures, well-known universities, media, government institutions and etc. 

The event showcased the achievements and innovation of women in technology over the last 12 months, identifying new role models and promoting further dialogue around diversity among industry influencers. The winners list of the following nominations - The Innovator of the year; Startup of the year; Deployment of the year; Founder, CEO or CIO of the year; Digital leader of the year; Hero of IT; Transformation of the year; Woman of the year; Developer of the year; Employer of the year; Judges Choice; Rural and Remote Contribution in IT; IT teacher of the year; IT community/IT education program/IT education project; IT student of the year - is presented below:

INNOVATOR OF THE YEAR — the Founder and CEO of the B.EST Solutions Company, the Asan Imza service operator; the Head and the Founder of “Femmes Digitales” Club, Yana Krimpe;

FOUNDER, CEO OR CIO OF THE YEAR — the Head of Hewlett-Packard International Trade BV, Azerbaijan, Inara Guliyeva;

WOMAN OF THE YEAR — Head of the ITECA Caspian Sales Department, Rena Abutalibova;

HERO OF IT — Microsoft Regional Marketing Manager, Sabina Parvizi;

JUDGES CHOICE – The Head of AzTU IT Department, Masuma Mammadova;

DIGITAL LEADER OF THE YEAR — the Head of Project Management Department at CyberNet LLC, Shahla Mammadova;

TRANSFORMATION OF THE YEAR — the Head of Department of the State Agency for Public services and Social innovations of the Azerbaijan Republic, Ulduza Halilova

DEVELOPER OF THE YEAR — Fidan Jafarova, ULTRA Technologies;

EMPLOYER OF THE YEAR — ULTRA Technologies Company;

IT TEACHER OF THE YEAR – the Deputy Head of the European ICT Lyceum, Rahila Aliyarzade;

IT COMMUNITY / IT EDUCATION PROGRAM / IT EDUCATION PROJECT — WoWoman Tech Tech Xanim Project;

RURAL AND REMOTE CONTRIBUTION IN IT — the IT teacher in Salmanbeyli Agjabadi region of Azerbaijan Republic, Shahana Badalova;

IT STUDENT OF THE YEAR — the ADA University IT Student, Elnara Nabiyeva.

The Ceremony was presented by the famous showman and TV host, honored artist Murad Dadashev, who was awarded by the Femmes Digitales as the best friend of the club. Dmitriy Adriyanov, the InfoCity Head and Editor-in-Chief, was awarded as the best media friend of the club.

Various government structures, leading ICT companies and organizations, as well as the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassadors accredited in Azerbaijan, attended the Award ceremony.

The Ambassador of the United States of America, Mr. Cekuta, his spouse, local statesmen and government officials such as the Deputy Minister of Communications and High Technologies, Elmir Velizade, the Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs of Azerbaijan, Sadaget Gahramanova, Azerbaijan MP Tahir Mirkishili and many others were giving awards to the winners.

Azerbaijan Women in ICT Club – FEMMES DIGITALES is a non-profit organization established in 2014 with a goal to get more women excited about technology and IT. FEMMES DIGITALES has been designed to be an advocate for women who are currently working for technology companies and for those that may work for business in other market sectors working with technology in their roles.
