Azer Gasimli Calls His Arrest Political Order
Baku / 28.06.18 / Turan: Arrested for 30 days for participation in the procession in the center of Baku on May 28 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan People"s Republic (APR), a member of the Mejlis of ReAl Party, Azer Gasimli, was released today.
"I was subjected to administrative arrest for 30 days not for committing any offense, but for my political activities," Gasimli said.
According to him, on May 29 he was called from the Prosecutor General's Office and informed that he was invited by First Deputy Prosecutor General Rustam Usubov. However, the head of the press service Eldar Sultanov talked with him. The latter regarded the conduct of the procession without agreement with the city administration, as a violation of the law.
ReAl conducted similar events on other dates - the day of the Khojaly genocide, etc. and did not seek permission in official structures.
The Prosecutor General's Office made a warning to Gasimli not to violate the requirements of the law anymore. After that, he was summoned to the 26th branch of the Yasamal police, where he was accused of not subordinating the police and was taken to court.
"It's interesting that the police officers who falsely accused me, in court, said that I did not use obscene language and did not confirm the fact of my disobedience. Nevertheless, the court sentenced me to 30 days of arrest," Gasimli said.
It should be noted that in addition to Gasimli, another 6 ReAl activists were arrested for 10 to 30 days. Dozens of activists were summoned to the police. -06D--
