Azerbaijani citizen is on trial on the complaint of the former Iranian ambassador
Shamsiya Rzaeva (Beylyarqizi) was arrested by the order, said her lawyer Elchin Sadigov. She was arrested in June last year on the complaint of the former Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan Afshar Soleimani, who accused Rzayeva of fraud.
Today in Baku Serious Crimes Court, chaired by Shekar Mammadov, the trial in the case of Rzayeva was over, and the prosecutor asked to sentence her to 10 years and six months of imprisonment. According to Sadigov, there is not any evidence that Rzayeva misappropriated $741,000. Rzaeva not consider himself guilty.
The lawyer said that all her troubles began after she said that she had a child from Sulejmani. Currently, because she is under arrest, the child is under the care of another person. The lawyer has repeatedly made a motion to change the measure of restraint on house arrest.
Previously, the "Khural" newspaper reported that Soleimani was prosecuted in Iran for not informing the authorities of his country about a new family in Azerbaijan. Soleimani was also arrested, but later he was released on bail equivalent to the amount of $ 2,500. Soleimani denies marriage to Rzayeva, and claims that she took money from him to solve some issues. In this case, she introduced herself as the head of the NGO “Center for International Expertise and Protection.” -16C-
