Azerenergy: Power Supply in Cities and Regions Fully Restored
On 28 September at 6:44, an accident occurred at the Mingechevir power plant as a result of a lightning strike. The lightening strike on the distribution line, led to a fire at the distribution station and shut down of power generating units. As the zone correspondent of Turan reported, they are now working on launching the units. Within hours of work the units will be restored.
There were power outages in most regions, including Baku, in connection with the accident.
The head of the press service of Bakielektrikshebeke (Baku Electricity Grids) Tanriverdi Mustafayev told Turan the electricity supply was restored in Baku at about 10:00 a.m.
Due to the sudden power outage, the Metro stopped working. Many trains were stuck in the tunnels. As the head of the Underground Security Department, Etibar Isayev told Turan, dedicated employees worked to evacuate passengers from the trains stuck in the tunnels. No injuries were reported.
The metro resumed full activity at 9.30.
Power outages in the capital caused traffic jams. Rail transport was also discontinued.
In connection with the event, Azerenerji (Azerbaijan National Electric Power Company) has not made official statements, and they are not answering phone calls. -03B04-

During search and operational activities, on January 30 at 11:20, 16.4 kg of drugs were discovered and seized in the area of the "Geytapa" border post, located on the Iran-Azerbaijan border. According to the Azerbaijan Border Service, this prevented an attempt to smuggle into Azerbaijan 11.3 kg of marijuana, 5.1 kg of opium, and 1,990 methadone M-40 pills from Iran.
