Bailiffs Decided Not to Use Journalist as Janitor

The bailiffs in Binagadi decided not attract the investigative journalist Khadija Ismailova to work to clean up the streets. This work was defined as the execution of punishment in the form of community service.

Earlier Ismailova was offered to sweep the streets in the center or on the outskirts of the city.

Ismailov chose the former option and came to execute the punishment on July 11. "However, in the Department of Corrections in Binagadi I was forced to wait a long time, and then I was told that I would pick up another job,"- the journalist told Turan.

"However, in the same department of the Binagadi area the political activist Jamil Hajiyev was provided work, but for me there was no work," said Ismailova.

The journalist said that she would execute the decision of the court under the motto: "Sweep for the sake of democracy, clear the country of filth!"

Ismailova was fined 400 manats for participation in a rally of solidarity with the people of Ismailly in Baku on January 26. She refused to pay the fine for participating in the unauthorized protest, after which Binagady Court commuted the fine by public works for 220 hours. -03B-
