The next monitoring in Azerbaijan, did not reveal the presence of avian influenza, the press service of the Veterinary Control of the Ministry of Agriculture. Monitoring started on 20 October. Sampled tissues and blood were taken from18 migratory birds, five poultry samples were taken from 1741 poultry. Analysis of the samples revealed the presence of avian influenza.
Monitoring was conducted on the Absheron peninsula, Shabran, Agjabedi, Lankaran and Salyan districts, national parks and reserves, in coastal areas, where the migratory birds. Monitoring also showed no sick birds, or died of disease. The following monitoring is planned on 17 November.
For eight years monitoring reveals no avian influenza viruses, but in Azerbaijan waterfowl hunting is still banned "due to the threat of avian flu." All neighboring countries allow such hunting. -03D04-
