Center of Baku to Stand Still During Formula-1 Race
In the period of the European Grand Prix Formula -1 in Baku, unimpeded pedestrian movement across the territory of the race will be provided by underground and above-ground temporary transitions day and night, the organizers of the competition said.
In particular, the temporary above-ground crossings will be installed at the intersection of Azerbaijan Avenue and Istiglaliyyat Street and at the intersection of Khagani Street and Rashid Behbudov Street.
The streets, on which the race track will run, and the area as a whole, will be closed to traffic from 01:00 on June 14. Traffic in this area will be restored at 06:00 on 21 June.
In addition, the territory of the Seaside National Park, on which the town of Formula-1 is located, will be closed from 00:00 on 15 June. The ban will be lifted at 12:00 on 20 June. Viewers who have purchased tickets for the event will be able to go to the Seaside National Park from 14:00 on 16 June.
The area in Baku, which will be banned from traffic, is divided into three zones. The first zone includes the Old City (Icheri Sheher), the second includes Azadliq Square and the surrounding area. The third zone covers UN 50th Anniversary Street.
People living and working in these areas will be issued special badges permitting the access to the territory by the relevant agencies for the period from May 30 to June 13. The badges have to be glued on the car windshields. Holders of the badges will be able to enter only the territory that corresponds to the badge.
Badges related to the first zone will be issued by the Office of the State Historical-Architectural Reserve Icheri Sheher, while badges for the other two areas will be issued by the Executive Power of Baku City.

Traffic in the first and second zones will be allowed only from 24:00 to 06:00. Traffic in the third zone will be allowed all day long for cars with the corresponding badges. -06D-
