Chovdarov accused of serious crimes complains of a violation of rights
The preparatory meeting of the Military Serious Crimes Court in the criminal case against the former Chief of the security in the field of energy and transport, the Ministry of National Security, General Akif Chovdarov, and a group of others - Salim Mamedov , Akif Aliyev and Orhan Osmanov continued today in the Sabunchu district court. The meeting was held behind closed doors.
According to the lawyer Javid Rzazade, at a meeting of lawyers made a number of applications. In particular, they called to investigate the fact that the arrest was made on the decision of Sabail court, although it is the prerogative of the Military Court. Lawyers were asked to recognize the decisions of the arrest of the accused unfounded and discard them. The court left the petition without consideration.
In connection with joining a new lawyer, Kyamandar Nasibov to protection , he asked for 20 days to get acquainted with the materials of 28-volume criminal case. Chovdarov also stated that he did not feel well, and had no time to get acquainted with the affairs of materials. However, the prosecutor urged to protect only 15 days, and the judge agreed, appointing the next trial on 19 October.
Chovdarov also complained of feeling unwell, saying that in 2006 he underwent a stomach operation, and then - bypass surgery.
Chovdarov and others are accused of committing a number of grave crimes: unlawful arrest, assignment of an organized group, extortion by an organized criminal group, illegal arms trafficking, illegal surveillance, taking bribes, abuse of power and others.
