Complain of journalist is sent to the European Court of Human Rights
Correspondent of the Turan agency and the radio station "Voice of America" Tapdig Farhadoglu appealed to the European Court of Human Rights because he cannot find possibilities to achieve justice in Azerbaijan . The complaint is connected with not investigation the attack on him while covering protests of BSU students, when a journalist suffered serious injuries and partial disability. Interests of Farhadoglu in the ECHR will provide a lawyer Samira Agayev, which has already won several cases in the Strasbourg Court.
According to Agayev, the complaint raises questions of violation of the journalists' rights guaranteed by Article 3 - Prohibition of torture and inhuman treatment, 6 - the right to a fair trial and 10 - freedom of expression of the European Convention rights and freedoms.
On February 20, 2014 the Head of Security Service of BSU Mair Hojjatov hit the journalist with his fist, and kicked in the back and on the head when Farhadoglu was shooting the protest of students.
Colleagues recorded the fact of the attack on the journalist by Hojjatov. In fact, the crime was committed under the Article 163 of the Criminal Code (interference with the lawful activities of a journalist.)
Despite the presence of video and other evidence, the prosecutor's office of Yasamal district refused to file a lawsuit on the fact. The journalist appealed the inaction of the investigator in Yasamal court, but in vain, Farhadoglu’s appeal was also rejected. -06В-
