Court Did Not Release Opposition Activist
Baku / 05/01/19 / Turan: The appeal of a member of the Popular Front Party, Fuad Ahmadli, for release on parole was rejected by the Surakhani court today.
As the father of the convicted activist, Zafar Ahmedov, told Turan, the meeting was held under the chairmanship of Judge Elnur Nuriyev in Prison No. 16.
The Public Committee under the Ministry of Justice and the prison administration gave a negative description of Ahmadli, on the basis of which the court rejected his request for early release, his father said.
Recall that Fuad Ahmadli was arrested in August 2016 on charges of "violating the law on operational search activities" and disseminating personal information of Azerfon mobile phone users. In addition, he was charged with abuse of power.
He was sentenced to 4 years in prison on June 16, 2017. The Court of Appeal later upheld the conviction. Fuad Ahmadli is recognized as a political prisoner. -0-
