Court Hearing on Journalists Case Postponed
Baku / 07.06.19 / Turan: Today in the Nasimi District Court of Baku, a preparatory meeting on the suit against journalist Teymur Karimov, who conducted a single protest action before the Ministry of Health, began under the chairmanship of Babek Hasanov.
This department requires Kerimov to be held criminally liable under Art. 147.2 (slander about committing a serious crime) of the Criminal Code.
At the beginning of the meeting, the lawyers of the journalist filed a petition on the impossibility of filing a lawsuit on the part of the Ministry of Health, as a legal entity, in the form of a private prosecution against an individual.
In this regard, the judge postponed the hearing on 10 June.
On May 18, Kerimov held a single protest rally before the Ministry of Health. He stated that his seriously ill mother was treated for money in state medical institutions.
Police detained him. A few hours later, Karimov was released, promising that on May 21 he would be received at the Ministry of Health. At the same time, the journalist was invited to the prosecutor's office, where he was interrogated about the transfer of bribes to doctors.
Today, Kerimov told Turan that his mother"s condition had deteriorated sharply and she was placed in the intensive care unit. "The doctors said there is no hope," he noted.
To support Karimov, a group of citizens suffering from oncological diseases and diabetes came to the court building. They told reporters about extortion in clinics and the difficulty of obtaining drugs that they rely on for free. -03B-
