Court of Appeal leaves PPFA activists under arrest
Baku/31.05.18/Turan: The Baku Court of Appeal rejected a complaint against the arrest of activists of the Popular Front Party - Babek Hasanov, Ruslan Nasirli.
The complaints were filed in connection with their arrest for four months. He and another activist Agil Maharramli were detained on May 25. The next day, the Prosecutor General's Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs published a message stating that they had been brought to criminal responsibility together with Saleh Rustamov, the former head of the Gedabay region, and his nephew ,Vidadi Rustamli, arrested three weeks earlier on charges of illicit drug trafficking.
Law enforcement authorities accuse all five of them of illegal business and money laundering. According to the official version of S.Rustamov, while doing business in Russia, collected money from businessmen to finance the activities of the Popular Front Party. The money was sent around the bank's turnover and transferred to the PPFA activists. The PPFA called the charges of money laundering a complete absurdity.
It is not reported when Agil Maharramli"s complaint will be considered. --B06--
