Court of Appeal Leaves Religious Activist in Custody
Baku / 17.02.18 / Turan: On February 16 the Baku Court of Appeal dismissed the complaint of the member of the movement Muslim Unity Samir Babayev about his administrative arrest for 60 days.
A resident of the Mashtaga settlement, Samir Babayev, was summoned for questioning to the police on February 3, after which he was arrested under article 206 of the Administrative Offenses Code. This article provides for the responsibility for illegal drug trafficking in an amount sufficient for personal use.
On February 16 at the Baku Court of Appeal, under the chairmanship of Ilgar Murguzov, Babayev's complaint was examined. He denied the charges, saying that the reason for his arrest was his membership in the movement Muslim Unity and the support of its leader, Taleh Baghirzadeh.
The complaint was rejected and the activist remained under arrest. -06D-
