Bar Association Preferred to Sue Yalcin Imanov in Gandja
Baku / 17.02.18 / Turan: The issue of approving the decision to terminate the lawyer powers of Yalchin Imanov will be examined in the administrative and economic court of the city of Gandja. Turan was informed about this by Imanov himself.
As Imanov told the Caucasian Knot correspondent, the preparatory meeting is scheduled for February 21 under the chairmanship of Judge Rashad Mammadov.
Consideration of the case in the administrative and economic court causes surprise to the lawyer, as such issues have always been considered in the courts of Baku, where the office of the Bar is located. Moreover, such issues should be considered in the general courts. Administrative and economic courts consider complaints against administrative bodies.
On the other hand, why consider the case in Gandja, while there are two administrative-economic courts in Baku.
The lawyer said that so far the Board of the Bar Association had not given him the full text of the decision to terminate his powers.
It should be recalled that on November 20, 2017, the Board of the Azerbaijan Bar Association suspended Yalchin Imanov's powers and appealed to the court to exclude him from the Bar. The reason was the appeal of the Penitentiary Service, which accused the lawyer of violating public stability. Imanov also said that he was carrying out his professional work, publicizing the facts of torture over his clients in prison. The International Bar Association and the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights condemned the decision to dismiss Imanov.-06D--
