Creativity is impossible to impart by administrative measures
"Creative Generation: the future is created today" was the theme of the conference organized by the Center for Strategic Studies (CSS) under the President, the Foundation for Youth and the Ministry of Youth and Sports in the Marriott Hotel in Baku.
The reason for the debate was the article published two weeks ago by the head of the Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev "Azerbaijani idea in the XXI century in the context of a nation of creative people."
The head of CSS, Farhad Mammadov, said the main idea of the article is that the future of Azerbaijan is in modernization and this requires the formation of generations of creative people who are able to further develop the country.
The Rector of Baku Slavic University Kamal Abdullah called the article by Mehdiyev an "ideological constitution of modern Azerbaijan." In his view, the path to creativity is through education.
The writer Chingiz Abdullaev expressed the view that the path to development is through quality education. In the 21st century, success lies in creativity. "We are not talking about the creation of creative works - literary, artistic, etc. I mean in terms of creativity to create what no one has created before us," said Abdullaev.
As examples of this success, he referred to Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, who became rich people because of their mind. "Yes, and wealth is not most important for them. They bequeathed 90% of it for charity," said Abdullaev.
He said with regret that in Azerbaijan the richest people are the government officials. Natural resources like oil and gas sooner or later come to an end, but the intellectual potential is inexhaustible.
"It is impossible to become rich only with oil - we must be more educated, cultured, enlightened," said Abdullaev, expressing regret that many Azerbaijani children to the question what they want to become answer, "police officer, customs officer, official."
The head of the Association of Clubs of Intellectual Games Balash Gasimov expressed the view that in competition with the developed countries of Europe and the world there is a need for creative young people. Discussions were held around the reports. -06C–

Baku, often called the "Caucasian Dubai," is increasingly known for systematic violations of residents' housing rights. During urban renovations and the construction of elegant new buildings, thousands of families in Azerbaijan’s capital have been unlawfully deprived of their homes. Many, recognizing the futility of resistance, settle for inadequate monetary compensation for their irreplaceable property. A minority, placing faith in the Housing Code, demand fair compensation from construction companies but often lose everything—both their homes and any form of recompense.
