Criminal case of the former head of the municipality of Binagadi village sent to court
Baku/22.05.21/Turan: The preliminary investigation in the case of the former head of the municipality of the village of Binagadi Niyaz Niftiyev and others has completed. The case was sent to the Baku Serious Crimes Court for consideration, the message of the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office.
According to the report, from January 17, 2020 to April 7, 2020, the former chair of the municipality of the village of Binagadi Niyaz Niftiev, together with 2 other officials of the structure, violated the rules of the special quarantine regime applied to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection (COVID- 19) in the country. They repeatedly received bribes for issuing false permits to individuals in 24 cases, committed official fraud, gaining an illegal advantage for himself.
Niyaz Niftiev, who was detained by the court decision on April 18, 2020, was finally charged under Articles of the Criminal Code - 309.1 (abuse of office), 311.3.1, 311.3.2 (taking bribes) and 313 (official fraud). On December 23, 2020, the compiled indictment in the criminal case was approved by the General Directorate for Combating Corruption under the General Prosecutor and sent to the Baku Serious Crimes Court.
The Prosecutor General's Office stated that the information in some media about unjustified preventive measure against Niftiev in the form of detention, and admission of red tape in the criminal case, does not reflect the truth. -03-
