Baku/12/21/12/Turan: Cars with civilian cargo and ambulances are moving along the Lachin road, through a picket of Azerbaijani civil society activists. However, the actual leadership of the Russian-controlled part of Karabakh stated that they refuse to drive along the Lachin road while the Azerbaijanis are standing there.

Ruben Vardanyan issued a statement: "The blockade is ongoing. Although you know that there is talk that the road is open, but it is not so. They are at the side of the road, they can stop cars whenever they want. Therefore, we say that this is unacceptable. The Azerbaijanis must leave there completely."

The Milli Majlis deputies interviewed by Turan explain this behavior of the leaders of the Armenians of Karabakh by fear of being arrested.

"Armenian residents of Karabakh who have no problems with Azerbaijani legislation should not be afraid of anything. The road is open for them. And those against whom criminal cases have been initiated for crimes against Azerbaijan will be detained as soon as they appear in the area of operation of our law enforcement forces," Deputy Rufat Guliyev told Turan.

MP Malakhat Hasanova expressed surprise at Turan's question as follows: “Why should criminals not be detained? Araik Harutyunyan, who commanded the missile strikes on Ganja, should be punished, a criminal case has been opened against him for war crimes. All criminals will answer before the Azerbaijani court. It is better for Araik to surrender himself to the justice of Azerbaijan. And innocent citizens of Armenian nationality can feel safe, they need to get Azerbaijani passports and the right to move around the country.”

MP Aziz Alekperli sees no obstacles for the detention of criminals who appear in front of the picket of Azerbaijani activists. "The OSCE, the Council of Europe and other international organizations do not demand from Baku to release criminals from punishment. Military and State criminals will be detained and convicted, regardless of their position. Citizens of Azerbaijani nationality are punished, hence, the same legal measures apply to Armenians, there are no exceptions for residents of Karabakh. And peaceful law-abiding residents of the region can live to comply with the laws of the Republic of Azerbaijan."

MP Arzu Nagiyev, in an interview with Turan, recalled that several persons of Armenian nationality were accused of crimes, their names were included in the list of those subject to international search.

"Ruben Vardanyan wants to guarantee his safety by means of Russian peacekeepers, therefore he demands the situation on the Lachin road to be returned to the format that had been in effect before the appearance of Azerbaijani activists there. It won't happen. Azerbaijan will not allow Vardanyan to carry out the mission entrusted to him. The Lachin road for criminals and illegal goods has finally closed," Nagiyev said.

The Prosecutor General's Office has initiated several criminal cases under Articles 100.2 (waging aggressive war), 120.2.1 (premeditated murder committed by a criminal organization or community), 279.3 (creation of armed formations not provided for by law), 318.2 (illegal crossing of the state border of the Republic of Azerbaijan) and other articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the investigation of the case is entrusted to the Investigative Department of the Prosecutor General's Office.

Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev declared that the investigative bodies of Azerbaijan have opened criminal cases against the representative of Armenia, who declared himself the "president" of the "NKR" Araik Harutyunyan, his assistant David Babayan, the "defense minister" of the fictional regime Jalal Harutyunyan and deputy Armen Babajanyan. They are accused of committing war crimes, and a decision has been made to bring them to the investigation. Also, a decision has been adopted to arrest these individuals, "Interpol" has been informed about their arrest and involvement in the investigation.-0-
