Deputy Minister: The Earth`s climate is changing extremely fast
Baku/18.10.23/Turan: According to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the highest global temperature according to all instrumental observations was recorded in July 2023, the Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan Umaira Tagiyeva.
Data on global indicators do not apply to all countries, since this is an average figure showing a general trend. According to her, the indicators may differ significantly from each other in different countries. Thus, record temperature indicators in the summer of 2023 have not been recorded in Azerbaijan. However, as a result of local torrential rains, the number of floods in the country exceeded the record of 2022 by three times, reaching 147.
Sometimes abnormal climatic events are contradictory. So this year, water consumption has decreased on some rivers of Azerbaijan, and there was even a drought in the lowlands. At the same time, there were numerous floods on mountain rivers. These are unexpected and contradictory aspects of climate change, Tagieva noted.
Based on the results of monitoring and scientific research, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which includes 234 scientific members from 66 UN countries, concluded that the Earth's climate is changing extremely rapidly. ---0---
