Disabled complain of lawlessness
The chairman of the Committee to protect the rights of disabled people, Magrur Badalsoy, held on Friday a press conference on violation of social rights of disabled people. The press-conference was held in the office of the IRFS.
According to him , Azerbaijan has not provided property and social rights of disabled persons, as well as the right to life. The officials take through courts the lands allocated for the disabled.
Badalsoy reminded the act of self-immolation committed on December 25 last year by a war veteran Zaur Hasanli. Badalsoy noted that income from the mall "Hayat" built with the funds of disabled receive officials. Officials privatized also a recreation center for disabled in Nabran.
According to him, the law "On social protection of the disabled" does not work. Therefore, persons with disabilities are deprived of rest in sanatoriums and resorts, insurance payments , social and medical procedures.
In addition, at the territory allotted for disabled in the Rajabli Street in Narimanov district of the capital, some individuals build villas. Although this area is designed for building infrastructure of disabled.
The villas are built on the gas line, therefore, the gas for disabled was built only five years after its construction, and is served intermittently.

President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola has invited Azerbaijani economist and political prisoner Professor Gubad Ibadoglu to Strasbourg to attend the 2024 Sakharov Prize award ceremony.
