Will Armenia purchase missile systems "Iskander"?
Yerevan/01.24.14/Turan- ArmInfo: The Armenian army will receive in 2014 ultra-precise long-range missile systems, said at today’s press conference the Armenian Defense Minister, Seyran Ohanyan, without specifying what complexes.
Earlier, Armenian and Russian media have repeatedly written that Armenia received and intends shortly to host the Russian "Iskander -M".
Ohanian also said that the process of creating a single Armenian-Russian air defense system will complete soon. " We are still working together on a number of fronts , we share information with our Russian colleagues, we have a single command center. I think that in the near future we will be able to improve this system," he said.
Asking the possibility of war in Nagorno-Karabakh , Ohanyan said that it requires a number of prerequisites, which they do not have today.
"Theoretically, there has always been the threat of Azerbaijani aggression. However, analyzing a number of key factors , it can be argued that the probability of a new war is negligible in practice," said Ohanian.
According to him, the recent "sabotage" on the frontline has demonstrated real readiness of the Armenian and Azerbaijani forces. According to him, the Armenian unit of nine soldiers distanced the Azerbaijani commando group of 30 people . Therefore, Baku has not any ground to speak about winning the war," said Ohanian .
Official Baku denied allegations by Ohanyan on sending of a subversive group from Azerbaijan. -02D-
