Disabled of First Karabakh War to receive lump sum payments
Baku/23.12.21/Turan: President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed a decree "On measures to strengthen social security of the persons injured (wounds, trauma, contusion) or disabled during military service duties or active military service on protection of territorial integrity, independence and constitutional order of Azerbaijan, as well as their families" on 23 December.
According to the document, military personnel and law enforcement officers (heirs of this category of persons) who were in service before August 2, 1997 and received disability can receive a one-time payment.
In particular, the size of a one-time payment to the disabled of the 1st group will be 8,800 manats (about $ 5,200); the 2nd group - 6,600 manats (about $ 3,900); the 3rd group - 4,400 manats (about $ 2,600). Payments will be made by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.
Note that this decree doesn't extend to persons (heirs) who received insurance payments and in relation to whom there are court decisions on payment of insurance payments.
Under the decree, there is also a commission to determine the rules of lump-sum payments. The commission will be chaired by the Ministry of Labor & Social Security of Azerbaijan.
According to the Ministry of Labor & Social Security, the decree will cover 17-20 thousand people. AZN 50 million (about $30 mln.) will be allocated from the state budget in 2022 for this purpose.
It should be noted that the decree will mainly cover the disabled of the first Karabakh war.
Earlier, two years ago, lump-sum payments were made to the families of shehids of the first Karabakh war.-06B-
