Displaced People Protest against Counters
IDPs living in the hostel in the Narimanov district of Baku at 4 Malik Mammadov Street (near the building of the former University Tafakkur) held a protest against the establishment of electricity counters in their building.
They did not allow the staff of Azerishig into the building. The building is home to 150 families and is in disrepair. Despite repeated appeals to state agencies, the settlers have not been provided safe housing.
The settlers claimed that they protested against the establishment of counters, because the building has no gas or central heating. Therefore, the tenants are forced to heat their rooms with electricity. Therefore, the indemnity payment of AZN 36 does not cover the electricity costs.
The protesters offer the authorities to supply them with gas first, and then install meters for electricity. Police have arrived at the building.
Meanwhile the staff of the Narimanov district electricity sale department said electricity counters are established in accordance with the law. -36D--
