Baku / 09.10.18 / Turan: On the Iranian-Azerbaijani border in the Astara region, employees of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan detained a border violator, an Iranian citizen, Shahbazi Akbar Dilaver. During the search were found 1.2 kilo of heroin, 700 grams of opium, 200 tablets of the pregabalin psychotropic substance, and 15 packs of meprotan tablets, the State Border Service said in a statement. In addition, the citizens of Azerbaijan were detained: Rovshan Akperov, Khayala Veliyev and Parviz Mammadov, who were supposed to take drugs from an Iranian. On December 25, an Embraer 190 passenger plane operated by Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL), on a Baku–Grozny flight, crashed near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. Azerbaijan’s Consul General in Aktau, Ayxan Suleymanlı, stated that the plane had 67 people onboard, including crew members, 38 of whom died. According to him, 26 of the deceased were Azerbaijani citizens.
