Drugs and counterfeit money seized at beauty salon in Lankaran
Baku/03.02.23/Turan: During the operation of the Lankaran police, large-scale drugs were withdrawn from illicit trafficking. Residents of the region Ismail Huseynli and Ilaha Mammadova were detained. They had 9 kg 224 grams of heroin, 2 kg 330 grams of methamphetamine and 23 counterfeit 100-dollar bills.
Mammadova kept drugs and counterfeit money at a beauty salon she managed in the city of Lankaran.
During the investigation, it was established that these persons received drugs and counterfeit money from an Iranian citizen named "Afshin" for the purpose of selling".
In total, 44 people were detained by the Lankaran police in January 2023 on suspicion of involvement in drug trafficking. They had 29 kg of drugs, including 23 kg of heroin, 3.5 kg of marijuana and 2.5 kg of methamphetamine.
The facts are being investigated.
In turn, the State Border Service of Azerbaijan on February 3 reported the discovery of a batch of drugs in the Caspian Sea.
During the observation of the patrol ship on the Astara roadstead, 11.4 miles from the shore, two bags were found tied to an anchor. There were 12 kg of marijuana in the bags.

Meetings of the Amnesty Issues Commission under the President of Azerbaijan are set to resume, with expectations that a new presidential amnesty decree will be issued. The last such decree was signed on May 25 of the previous year, ahead of Independence Day (May 28). That decree covered 154 individuals, of whom 63 were released from imprisonment, while the sentences of 52 others were reduced by half.
