Dutch police take steps to protect political journalist
Baku / 20.02.20 / Turan: Dutch police visited Turkel Alisoy’s political emigrant from Azerbaijan on February 19 in connection with a security problem.
“Together with the police, there were two prosecutors. We talked for over an hour. Prosecutors said they are investigating the case based on information received by the Dutch prosecutor about the threat to our security. They told me that my children and family members are now under special control and are not in danger,” the journalist wrote on his Facebook page.
Turkel Alice emigrated from Azerbaijan in 2015. He is one of the leading Internet television "Azerbaijan Saaty" operating in Europe. Alice is known for his harsh criticism of the Azerbaijani government and members of the government.
The first warning of a possible threat was given to him by the Dutch police on February 12. Police said they have information from a reliable source in Azerbaijan about the impending assassination attempt on Alisoy and another nine political emigrants.
On the 19th, the police were interested in Alisoy’s contacts and found out if he suspected anyone himself.

The invitation, delivered by Member of the European Parliament Michael Bloss at the COP29 climate conference, comes as Ibadoglu remains under house arrest and prohibited from leaving Azerbaijan.
