
The State Property Committee denies ex-Defense Minister Rahim Gaziyev in the privatization of his apartment,told Haziyev at a press conference today at Prospect Metbuat, 18/7, Apt. 32. "I have been living in this apartment for 39 years since it was built, I am the first and the only owner, the house is the cooperative and all the neighbors had already received a certificate of privatization, except for me," said Haziyev. He noted that on April 28 this year, he passed all the documents to the ASAN service and paid a fee. "I was told that the document on privatization will be ready on May 20. However, on that dayI was told that Khudaverdiev, the representative of the State Property Committee of the city of Baku, does not accept my documents. On June 8, I turned to the president of the country, and I was received to the presidential administration, and they promised to settle the matter. Today, on 8 October,nothing has chnaged," said Haziyev, noting that he had written 10 letters to the head of state and has not received any response.
* Rahim Haziyev served as Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan in 1992-93. When Heydar Aliyev was in power, Haziyev was accused of preparing a coup, and was convicted. In September 1994, he and three other prisoners escaped from prison and moved to Russia. In 1997, he was arrested and extradited to Azerbaijan.
