Former NIDA activist Bakhtiyar Guliyev declined the appeal
The Baku Appeal Court presided over by Judge Hasan Ahmadov held a preliminary hearing on NIDA activists today.
In the beginning, the judge announced that the accused Bakhtiyar Guliyev refused the appeal.
But the lawyers defending Guliyev in the trial court, as well as other defendants, expressed the need for personal involvement of the man to confirm the refusal.
The lawyers also petitioned for appeal by holding a partial trial.
Then they applied for a change of the measure of restraint for non-detention.
After the meeting, the court rejected all the petitions, but granted Guliyev’s application for refusal of the complaint. Consideration of the complaint is scheduled for July 11.
Recall that Bakhtiyar Guliyev previously made a statement that he left NIDA and appealed to the head of state with remorse for his actions.

Baku, often called the "Caucasian Dubai," is increasingly known for systematic violations of residents' housing rights. During urban renovations and the construction of elegant new buildings, thousands of families in Azerbaijan’s capital have been unlawfully deprived of their homes. Many, recognizing the futility of resistance, settle for inadequate monetary compensation for their irreplaceable property. A minority, placing faith in the Housing Code, demand fair compensation from construction companies but often lose everything—both their homes and any form of recompense.
