Gurban Mammadov: the killing of prisoners in the jail N14 is a fact
The former political prisoner, lawyer Gurban Mammadov, in an interview with "Voice of America" shared his impressions on the jail N14, where he was serving a sentence, and where before the New Year was tortured prisoner Elshad Babayev.
On December 22 in the morning after the murder of Elshada, all prisoners learned about it. They were excited and 100-150 people attacked the duty of the jail, smashing all the windows and beat several officers, including officers, Mammadov said.
This is certainly a crime, but the actions of prisoners were motivated, and it is not their fault, because they realize that each of them can face the fate of Elshad, the lawyer said. Gurban Mammadov told about the details of the incident, which resulted in the death and Elshad Babayev.
The conflict began in the tea house in jail between Babayev and other prisoners, who complained to the duty. Babayev called and asked for an explanation, but he rudely replied guards. Therefore, they started beating him, and he died.
The Prison Service is now trying to prove that Elshad could die from the disease and collect such evidence from other prisoners.
"On December 22 there were great wickedness, they continued in the following days. I was a witness, as early in the morning on December 26 our hut was attacked. I first came out and saw two other prisoners were on the ground, beaten with truncheons, and set dogs," Mammadov said.
State authorities should seriously investigate the incident. Use of force is obvious, the lawyer said, adding that there are still many injured in jail, and much of them are - believers.
With regard to the conditions in the jail N14, it was built in 1953 and primarily for political prisoners, dangerous criminals. Therefore, conditions were difficult and the jail needs to be reformed, said Gurban Mammadov.
The Prison Service does not recognize the death of a prisoner Elshad Babayev from torture, promising to give explanations after the completion of the investigation.-16D-
