State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patent approved new rules of certification of goods labeled «Halal». For such labeling, manufacturers must apply to the Committee, otherwise the certificate will not be issued.
Producers of goods under the label «Halal» must resolve technical issues with a view to updating labeling before April 1 of the current year. Prior to this period, the enterprise must also address issues related to new orders and printing labels.
After April 1 legal measures will be applied against those enterprises that do not have the certificate of standard AZS 731-2012, and continue to produce products labeled «Halal» the State Committee said.
However, it is not clear what are the requirements, and what exactly are the standards for issuing a certificate. Is also not known how long certification procedure will last, and who will decide whether the product is considered «Halal» or not.
The concept «Halal» has a broad meaning in Islam. It means not only the products that do not contain pork, but the meat of animals slaughtered according to special rules with reading prayers, etc. -05D04-
