Human rights: a soldier tortured in Yevlakh Police
A sergeant Tahir Osmanli who is serving his term was tortured in the Yevlakh district police department, said Elchin Mammadov , the head of the public association "Legal Education of Sumgayit Youth". According to him, Osmanli was slandered by a neighbor in a rented apartment and complained to police in Yevlakh. The sergeant was taken directly from the military unit and was severely beaten by the police.
"Another soldier who rented apartment together with Osmanli lost 1650 manat in August, complained to the police against Osmanli, accused him of theft.
Osmanli was brutally beaten by two officers - Captain and Major. Tahir was seriously injured, and his ribs broke," human rights activist said.
He presented photos of Osmanli with traces of violence on the body of the sergeant. Despite complaints of the sergeant no measures were taken against the police. His parents complained to the district prosecutor's office in Yevlakh and the Interior Ministry, but in vain.
The case will be filed in the court of appeal on the illegal actions of the police and the prosecutor's refusal to file a suit, Mammadov said.
Father of the sergeant received as letter from Ministry of Internal Affairs signed by the Head of the Internal Investigation Department Sahib Mirzayev, who claims that the investigation has not established the facts of illegal actions on the part of Yevlakh region police department against Tahir Osmanli.-06D-
