Baku / 07.15.19 / Turan: The cause of the oilman"s death in the Guneshli field, voiced by SOCAR, is not correct. In fact, oilman Seymour Valikhanov died of acid burns, Mirvari Gahramanli, head of the public association "Protecting the rights of oilmen", reported to Azadlig Radio.

On July 16, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) reported the death of an oil producer of the Guneshli field on July 15, at 18:50. The victim Seymur Valikhanov, 39, operator of the production Research & Development site, was found dead in a bathroom in the Guneshli field.

"According to preliminary data, the death was caused by a head injury and bleeding in the brain. The causes of the incident are being investigated by a commission created by order of the general director of the Azneft Production Association," SOCAR reports.

Mirvari Gahramanly claims that Verdiyev dropped a 15-liter plastic container with acid in the morning of July 15. The acid poured over Verdiyev, and even hit him in the throat, after which he died an hour later. Attempts by colleagues to save him were unsuccessful," said the human rights activist.

Gahramanly added that SOCAR spread the information that Verdiyev died in the bathroom in order not to give compensation to the family of the deceased.

"In fact, everything happened, as I said. This incident was reported to me by eyewitnesses. An anatomical expedition has already been carried out, but the results are unclear," Gahramanly said.

It was not possible to get any explanations from SOCAR and the relatives of the deceased.

Guneshli is part of the largest Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli oil field in the Caspian Sea, 120 km east of Baku. This field was discovered in the 60s of the last century.

Four years ago, a heavy tragedy occurred at the Guneshli oil field. During the fire on the platform 30 oilmen were killed.-0-
