Hunger Strike of Solidarity with Tofig Yagublu Continues
Baku / 08.09.20 / Turan: A hunger strike continues at the headquarters of the Musavat party as a sign of solidarity with the opposition politician Tofig Yagublu.
A hunger strike participant Elman Guliyev told Turan that he joined the action the day before.
In addition, the PFPA activists, Ayat Ismail, Tofik Mammadov and Elnur Hasanov, have been on hunger strike for seven days.
“As long as our condition is satisfactory, there are no complications. Only Tofig Mammadov was persuaded not to carry out a dry hunger strike,” Guliyev said.
When asked about the presence of medical supervision over the protesters, Guliyev said that so far no health problems have arisen and they have not turned to doctors.
Recall that a member of the National Council of Democratic Forces and the Musavat party, Tofig Yagublu, was detained on March 22 after an accident. He was accused of assaulting the driver and passenger of another car. However, there was no evidence of this.
On September 2, he went on a hunger strike in court, and on September 3, the court sentenced him to 4 years and 3 months in prison. International organizations condemned the verdict. Amnesty International recognized Yagublu as a “prisoner of conscience”. —06D-
