In Armenia, Whole Family Accused of Spying for Azerbaijan
Accused of concealing information about the espionage in favor of Azerbaijan, 18-year-old Diana Goroyan does not recognize her guilt. This was reported to NEWS.am by the attorney Liana Gasparyan.
"My client does not have such information, and in fact there is no evidence of her guilt," said the lawyer.
At the time of her alleged offense Diana Goroyan was 17 years old. The first hearing in the case will be held on 25 January. It is possible that the process will be closed.
In the case there are several people. According to the indictment, Rafik Papoyan was recruited in Turkey by a representative of special services of Azerbaijan, who introduced himself as Seyran. Then the espionage involved Rafik's son, Sergey Papoyan. He was commissioned as a contract to get into one of the military units in Matagis (Nagorno-Karabakh). The information had to be transmitted via the Internet.
Karine Gumashyan was recruited in Tbilisi in 2013 by an Azerbaijani special service officer, who introduced himself as Armand.
Diana Goroyan is accused that she knew about the familiarity of her cousin Karine Gumashyan with Armand. Knowing that this is treason, she did not report to the police.
Rafik and Sergey Papoyan, and Karine Gumashyan are charged under Part 1 of Article 299, while Diana Goroyan is charged under Part 1 of Article 335. Rafik Papoyan and Karine Gumashyan have been arrested, while Sergey Papoyan and Diana Goroyan have been released on bail. -02D-
