Insults on facebook led to the arrest of a former Azadlig correspondent
Baku/26.01.23/Turan: On January 26, the former correspondent of the Azadlyg newspaper, Aydin Janiev, was sentenced to 1 month of administrative arrest by the decision of the Yasamal District Court of Baku. A message about this was published on Janiev`s Facebook page .
He was arrested on the recommendation of the Prosecutor General's Office, after complaint of the head of "Haqqın.az" website Eynulla Fatullayev.
Janiev did not object to the court decision and refused the services of a lawyer.
According to information on the Electronic Court portal, Janiev was arrested under Art. 388-1. (Placing prohibited information on the Internet or in the information network) of the Code of Administrative Offenses.

Fatullayev himself confirmed to Turan that he had complained about Janiev.
“He has been writing insults against my family members and me personally on his facebook page for several months. I appealed to the prosecutor's office with a request to punish him,” said Fatullayev. He also provided screenshots of offensive publications.
Recall that Janiev was an employee of the Azadlyg newspaper and a number of other publications in the past.
In November 2011, he was sentenced to 3 years in prison on charges of hooliganism. However, a number of journalistic organizations considered that the real reason for the arrest was his critical article in the Khural newspaper about religious figures.
In December 2012, Janiev was pardoned. In recent years he has been an active social media user. –0-
