Investigative journalist Jasur Sumerinli Reports on Pressure
The head of the Journalism Military Studies, a member of the civil movement "Republican Alternative” (REAL), Jasur Sumerinli, reported threats at his address. According to him, it was after his appearances in the media about the Azerbaijani-Russian military cooperation.
In a statement, he said that some persons came in touch with him and talked on behalf of the higher authorities of Azerbaijan. They reported that the military circles of the Russian Federation sent protests to the official Baku over Sumerinli’s statements.
"I was told that my articles threaten the future of the bilateral military-technical cooperation, and create a danger of failure of the bilateral agreements," said Sumerinli.
Earlier, commenting on President Putin's visit to Baku, the journalist expressed the opinion that the talks in Baku reached agreement on deepening military-technical cooperation and training of military personnel, which is contrary to the development of the armed forces of Azerbaijan in accordance with the NATO standards.
Sumerinli claims that he was offered compensation for the termination of such publications, and when he refused, they threatened him with trouble.
Sumerinli was accused that he gets information from Western sources and the alleged facts were given to him by a journalist.
Sumerinli actually met in a cafe with a journalist, but commented on her request on the subject of arms in the Black Sea region for the study of the project, Militarization in the Black Sea Region.
Sumerinli noted that in the course of the conversation, they felt spying by two men.
The journalist said that the responsibility for any action against him or his family will be held on the Azerbaijani authorities and called on the civil society and the media to support him. -06D-

Information about the explosion on 8th Transverse Street was reported to TƏBIB (the Association for the Management of Territorial Medical Units) on October 7 at around 1:50 PM. Four ambulance teams were dispatched to the scene. The injured included three adult men and two women, all of whom were hospitalized in facilities managed by TƏBIB.
