Kazakh environmentalists regarded unfounded the statement by the Azerbaijani Minister of Ecology on the pollution of the Caspian Sea by Kazakhstan. The Azerbaijani Ecology Minister Huseyngulu Bagirov said that in the Kazakh sector of the Caspian Sea are operated wells, remaining from the Soviet era, that "in the event of any emergency, they can become a cause for pollution the Caspian Sea."
Bagirov said it commenting on the statement that there appeared oil spills on the water surface as a result of a fire at the Azeri platform "Gunashli".
