Baku/18.07.17/Turan: A preparatory meeting in the case of Khasay Farzullah, chairman of the district branch of the Musavat Party, was held in the Massaly regional court on July 18, his lawyer Neymyat Kerimli said. The case is brought against the Musavat member in connection with a road accident. The defense made petitions to allow the defendant to sit next to his lawyer. However, the state prosecutor asked the court to refuse to satisfy the petition, motivating him that the defense could affect the defendant and the course of his thinking. The court refused to satisfy the petition. Another petition was related to video and audio recording in the courtroom, this petition was also rejected. Lawyer Neymyat Kerimli stated at the trial that the refusal to satisfy the petitions violated Hasai Farzullah's right to qualitative protection. The court session will continue on August 2.
Khasay Farzullah is charged under Article 263.11 of the Criminal Code (causing serious damage through negligence.) The reason for initiating the lawsuit is a car accident that occurred on April 5 this year in the village of Badalan, Masalli region. The defendant shot down Rauf Tagiyev, who suddenly appeared on the road. Hasai Fazullah immediately took the victim to the hospital, and also paid him medical treatment in Baku.
Farsullah said at the trial that the matter was simply politicized.
"The territorial representative of the village of Boradigi complained to the police saying that I have a negative impact on society. It was especially emphasized that I am the chairman of the Masalli branch of the Musavat Party. All this prevents settling the matter legally,"said the Musav member.
This is not the first case when the opposition members are being brought to justice for an accident. Earlier it was daughter Tofig Yagublu Nigar, Absheron court sentenced daughter Tofig Yagublu to 2.6 years of imprisonment. The decision on imprisonment for a year and a half was made by the Yasamal court against the daughter of the head of the National Council Gunel Hasanli for committing an accident.
